When can I cancel my travel insurance for any reason?

You can cancel your CFAR travel insurance at any time with most insurance companies.

If you purchase travel insurance without CFAR, you typically have access to a “free look” period during which you can cancel your policy, receive your money back, and only pay a small fee.

Travel insurance policies typically last between 10 and 15 days during this time period. However, if you cancel after the free-look period, some policies may not be refundable.

What distinguishes cancellation-for-any-reason travel insurance from standard travel insurance?

The fact that you can cancel your trip for reasons that regular travel insurance does not cover makes CFAR travel insurance different from regular travel insurance.

For instance, if you are afraid of flying, you can use your CFAR insurance to cancel your trip at the last minute and get reimbursed.

However, since flight apprehension is not covered by standard travel insurance, you would not be eligible for reimbursement if you canceled the trip.
