The Google Colleague is making its re-visitation of a Wear operating system watch this week in the wake of being pulled with the large Wear operating system 3 update the year before.
The Fossil Gen 6 is up first with both a framework update and a friend application update that brings back the missing Colleague.
The two updates were available to at least one of our readers simultaneously.
The Fossil Smartwatches app’s patch notes describe version v5.1.6 as an upgrade that “re-introduces Google Assistant for your Wear OS 3 devices.” Build RFHC.230409.014 can be seen alongside that system update.
You can set Assistant by opening the companion app, going to the Preferences section, selecting “Default assistant,” and then selecting “Hey Google” as the voice assistant.
This will appear as shown below. You should be able to move over to the watch and begin testing if the appropriate software is running on it.
In the event that not, the buddy application will let you know that “Your watch’s product form isn’t upheld.”
