High-deductible health plans are ideal for healthy individuals who do not need to pay for expensive medical procedures.

In this way, they are engaging for individuals who for the most part just require preventive consideration.

For instance, an HDHP might be a good option for a 30-year-old person who does not have any other health issues or underlying conditions.

This individual may only require some preventative measures, like flu shots, nutritional counseling, or health screenings.

On those services, they would not be responsible for any copays or coinsurance.

A plan like this one has a high deductible, as the name suggests.

The portion of the plan that you are responsible for paying before your insurer steps in to cover your costs is known as the deductible.

Remember, however, that your preventive consideration is totally covered.
