River fish exports from Rakhine to Bangladesh have been halted as a result of the cyclone.

Typhoon Arseni has prevented the export of 300 tonnes of river fish from Rakhine State to Bangladesh.

“More than 200 tonnes are trapped in Sittwe and more than 100 tonnes in Maungdaw,” stated a merchant exporting riverine fish to Bangladesh.

Rakhine does not have a cyclone. There will be additional losses if this continues.
A 100-ton ship, two 12-ton five-ton trucks, and 12 7-ton five-ton fish trucks were stuck in Maungdaw in Sittwe, weighing a combined 300 tons.

The Sittwe Chamber of Commerce and Industry claims that, despite the fact that Arsenic did not make landfall on the Rakhine coast, authorities should close the waterway due to concerns that it would harm Bangladeshi fish and rivers that are exported there.
An official with the Sittwe Chamber of Commerce, Aung Aung, stated: Due to the bad weather, I’m worried that something will happen. The weather is good right now. On the Rakhine coast, cyclones will no longer occur. It’s best to quit. The merchants are having a difficult time. The fish have been transferred to the boat from the car. I was unable to leave, so I had to upload again. When they were dumped, the fish suffered injuries and died.
Traders say that they could lose approximately 5,000 lakhs if they are unable to export 300 tonnes of riverine fish in this day and age.
The fish are currently frozen and kept fresh. A riverine trader stated, “We could lose approximately 5,000 lakhs if we do not export these days.”
Border trade figures show that Rakhine State exported fishery products worth $387.412 million to Bangladesh in the fiscal years 2020-2021.
