The amount of coverage you need, the type of coverage you select, the amount of your deductible, and where you live all play a role in determining your actual cost.

Property insurance is provided by landlords, but it only covers the building and not your personal belongings inside.

A lot of renters don’t buy renter’s insurance because they don’t think it’s necessary or because they think the landlord’s policy covers them.

Your property manager might expect you to buy it.
