When Your Motorcycle Is Stolen Written by Emily Delbridge and Last Updated on August 7, 2021 Anthony Battle Reviews Motorcycles Motorcycles can be easy and popular targets for thieves.

Motorcycles are relatively simple to move without a key, in contrast to automobiles. Either the bike as a whole or just the parts can be sold for a lot of money.

Like a stolen car, a stolen bike is also less likely to be found. In 2018, the NICB reported a recovery rate of 44% for motorcycles1. On the other hand, just over 59% of the time, cars were found.

To get your motorcycle back, first report it as stolen to the police.
If your insurance policy does not include comprehensive coverage, you will be out of luck in the event of a theft.

Before your insurance coverage kicks in, you will have to pay the deductible, just like you would with any insurance claim.
Install an alarm, store your motorcycle out of sight, or lock it to something that won’t move to stop theft.
