Insurance for medical treatment abroad: These policies cover expenses incurred due to illness or injury while traveling, from five days to one year or more.

Medical Exodus: May cover transport travel to a clinical office and clinical departure to get care.
Before purchasing a policy, check with your current medical insurers to see if it covers you outside the country.

If you become ill or injured while traveling, the majority of health insurance companies will cover “customary and reasonable” hospital costs; however, very few will cover a medical evacuation.
The U.S. government doesn’t guarantee residents or pay for clinical costs abroad.
