Two new foundations—the Albédo Foundation and the Fondation 1 Ocean—are being established following the CNRS Foundation’s initial and active ocean-related foundations.
The exploration project “1 Ocean, The Great Testimony” receives funding from the Fondation 1 Ocean as part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science, which runs from 2021 to 2030.
The Ocean Sustainability Foundation, led by marine biologist and CNRS Scientific Advisor Françoise Gaill, supports initiatives to protect marine and ocean environments, particularly the IPOS initiative.
The Science4Reefs Foundation, which also encourages interaction between scientists and actors in policy, industry, society, and culture, supports research on coral reefs.
The Albédo Foundation helps French national and international scientific programs about the northern and southern polar regions, cryospheres, and extremely high-altitude regions.
