Water Damage and Broken Pipes.

Let’s say a water tank or pipe breaks and gets worse over time, or a washing machine breaks.

There will not be coverage for the actual machine, tank, or pipe. But the damage that comes from the sudden break might be covered.

The damage that occurs as a result differs from the initial damage. For instance, if water damage caused by a broken appliance or pipe is listed as covered in your policy.

You may be reimbursed for some of the damage even though the new appliance or pipe would not be covered.

This is an example of the damage not being covered but the damage being covered. First, if you are denied a claim, make sure you ask for the full reason.

You are entitled to know precisely which section of the policy excludes your request and the reason for the denial of your claim.
