What is included? The “all-risk” Special Causes of Loss Form covers damage caused by any peril that is not specifically excluded.

Because they are not caused by an excluded peril, the three kinds of water losses listed below are covered.

If the damage occurs suddenly, such as when a copper pipe that feeds a faucet in your office ruptures, then property damage caused by water leaking from a broken pipe or appliance (like a water heater) is typically covered.

The event occurs on a weekend, and a wood floor sustains significant damage as a result of pooling water.

If your property insurance covers buildings, the cost of replacing the damaged floor should be covered.

The Special Causes of Loss Form also covers sudden water leaks from fire protective systems. For instance, a maintenance worker might accidentally damage a sprinkler pipe while replacing a lighting fixture.

The pipe bursts, causing damage to your office furniture. Your property insurance should cover the furniture damage.
