What is the value of airline miles?

We discovered that the nine domestic airlines we track have an average value of 1.24 cents per mile, up from 1.06 cents a year ago.

American Airlines provides the most valuable airline miles, which, according to our estimation, are worth an average of 1.76 cents.

Frontier Airlines, on the other hand, has the lowest-value miles, worth only about 0.9 cents each.

The majority of airlines’ average domestic flight costs are now higher than they were a year ago, according to our research.

Over the course of the past year, U.S.-based airlines have seen an overall increase in the dollar cost of flights of approximately 33%.

However, the average cost per mile of those same flights has only increased by approximately 10.5%, resulting in slightly higher average mile values overall.

It’s more of a mixed bag when it comes to credit card points programs. American Express Membership Rewards and Capital One Venture Rewards have fully recovered, and then some, while Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi Thank You points remain below early 2021 levels.

Keep in mind that these numbers are just averages, so it’s always worth it to look for the best deals because prices and point values change constantly.
